Some Time to Think on a Rainy Day (Cooper Conrad)

Today here in Zakopane we had our first day on the trip where rain ruined some of our plans. I hoped to do a bit of hiking in the Tatra Mountains but came to the conclusion of using today as a rest & reflection day.

This has been an amazing trip and I am extremely grateful to be a part of this group and this experience. While I feel I have learned a trips worth of knowledge already we are only on our second city. I'm excited to include this knowledge and experience into my future lessons and teaching my students about the world & how history effects this world we live in.

While thinking about this I couldn't help but think about home and my family. This is not a post of homesickness but one of appreciation of all the incredible people in my life. Some people say distance makes bonds grow stronger & I couldn't agree more.

First I have to thank my wife for putting me in the position to be even able to go on this trip. She supported and advocated my decision to go back to school and be a teacher. To the rest of my extended friends and family I miss you but appreciate you reading & sorry it is hard to stay in touch with the six hour time difference. ( Hi Carol I know your reading this!)

Another group I have been thinking a lot about is my family at Trotwood Madison High School. Through discussion with peers on this trip I keep coming back to just how my school is just different. Maybe I found the perfect school fit? Okay maybe there is a smidge of homesickness, but I really am fortunate to be a part of kids lives and to work alongside some incredible colleagues. To all my students I'm excited to share this experience and I hope one day you can embark on something similar. To my football guys don't think I have forgot about you. I know you guys are putting in the work but don't think I been taking a backseat here across the pond either. I have been still training and found an awesome gym in Kraków. (S/O to R & K Gym my shirt in the photo below.) Big congrats to Jermiel Adkins on making his decision to play college football. His announcement will be made on July 4th. Follow Jermiel & the rest of the Trotwood Running Rams on Twitter (x) and games are steamed live on Youtube.

Check out the mountains in the top right!

While you can't beat the views even though it's raining the window sill isn't the best seat in the house. But once again improvise and overcome! Thanks for reading and following along with our journey through Poland. Na Razie! (Bye for now... I think Polish is really hard!)
